"Take out leftover" is popular in housewives

J-CAST NEWS (Japanese Web News) reported:

To take out leftover from restaurants, is getting popular in housewives.
The reasons are, "too good to waste" and "save the cost for meals".

A research company, I-SHARE got the results of their research by 339 people who are age 20's to 40's.
- The people who have taken out leftover from restaurant were 47.2%.
- Same as above in women were 54.7%.

Variety shops sell "Doggy Bags".
Those are plastic, reusable and not look like leftover in it.
Those are popular in people who are ashamed to bring own "to go box".

"Doggy Bags" makers started to sell those at autumn in 2008.
They have been shipping 76,000 bags until December 2009.

Number of restaurants that allow taking out "leftover" is increased to more than 200 restaurants in nationwide now (in Japan).

The restaurants are happy with this trend, because they can save some disposal costs.

I just remembered this thing.
I never have taken out leftover from restaurant in Japan.
I didn't have those kind of ideas at all.

Doggy bag is one of the common senses in U.S., but I don't think many people bring in own to go box to restaurants.
And I was surprised that only 200 restaurants allow taking out leftover in nationwide. (What a country are they?)

I wish economy is coming back in 2010, and everyone can use restaurants more often.
Happy New Year!

I was riding motor bike when I was teenager.

The bike was "SUZUKI GSX 400 FW", not so popular.

And I ride a bike now

Of course yellow one is mine.

Other 2 bikes are my friends'.

Mine is best one when we think about ecology, fuel cost, parking fee....
And mine is fastest one when we go to next block.

I am riding this in Beverly Hills with white coat.

Say hi, if you see me in town. (^^)v

I was invited a charity party on Wednesday night.

That was, "Make A Difference - NYC, 10th Annual Toy Drive".
The toys for children who are in shelters in NYC.

The host was Camille Guaty.

Because she played, I watched all of episodes of "Prison Break".

She played "Nine" too. But I have not seen that. (Sorry Camille).

Anyway I brought some RC cars.
Those are Hummer H3 and Cadillac Escalade.

I really wanted to play with those.

I wish some kids become a little happy with my toys, and more kids become happy with more toys.

And thank you Camille for invitation. (^^)v

Plastic Surgery

Former Miss Argentina dies after plastic surgery.

See.. I am telling you all the time.

I know many cosmetic surgeons around my office.
I believe they are good.
However I still not recommend any surgery unless you really need.

I do acupuncture for cellulite reduction, weight control, facelift, anti-wrinkle and so-on..
Those take some time more than surgery, but very safer.
"Not gonna die".

She was beautiful..

My Office

I recently found a thing.
I never have posted the photos of my office.

This is a treatment room.

The room has some Asian flavored gadgets.

There are a heat lamp on right side of the photo.
That style looks like "classic".

However "electric lamp" is a very new technology in the thousands years history of the Oriental Medicine.

And another room

This practice table up and down by electric power.

So I mostly use this room for "just Massage" patients.

And this is the building appearance.

I think little bit difficult to find at first visit, if you do not have navigation system.

Of course I could not find a while at my first visit.

Please leave your home little earlier at your first visit.

I do not have any photo of waiting room, but I hope you will see me at there soon. (^^)v

Australia to cull 6,000 Camels in Outback.

People say "critical situation in economy" in U.S. also in Japan.

However not only human being is in critical situation, but also animals.

Is it sure no solution other than kill them?

Poor guys... They just want to live.

Long-term Effects of a Very Low-Carbohydrate Diet and a Low-Fat Diet on Mood and Cognitive Function

Too much is too much.

Human body does not require any molecular of carbohydrate.
Human being can live without carbohydrate.
But it is in the biochemistry world.
You can live with bad mood, but it maybe not good life.

Carbohydrates are burned so quick.
So athletes are taking a lot of carbohydrate (of course also a lot of protein, vitamin, calcium and so on...).
If you use calories more than intake, you never gain weight.

Anyway, most interesting part for me was:

"By 1 year, the overall mean (SE) weight loss was 13.7 (1.8) kg, with no significant difference between groups".
I am a big rice eater, but I lost weight about 22lbs in this 13 years.
Although I didn't want to.

Who shed rumor of wrong health science in beginning?
Is your diet really O.k.?

Little Reunion

I was busy. That's why I couldn't update my blog.

I had little reunion in El Segundo Friday 6th.
But they were not classmates.

From left
Yuichi Nakagaichi: former Super Ace in Blazers.
Terra: Me.
Bob Samuelson: former Middle Blocker in Sunbirds.
Atsushi Kobayahsi: former Middle Blocker in Arrows.

And all of them were the National Team Members in U.S. or Japan... except me.

I have been busy after this.

I met them just 1 day. We played volleyball together.
Not everyday, only 1 day.

It has been a while since I retired, which is more than 10 years.

I didn't injured, just....
My Quadriceps became my waist size.

Yes those were swollen. NO. Those are swollen.

I was busy, because my movement became so slow and I was icing every single night.

I always tell my patients, "do moderate exercise daily or weekly bases".
Yes, I will.
I will do that after my thigh shrunk. Yes, really...

Alert e-mail

I received a e-mail.

Oh, yeah. I have not used this bank's credit card a while.

And I cricked the Link then "Alert" appeared.

I remembered I never have used this e-mail for credit card.
Is this fake?

Should I report some where?

Have you have any experience like this?

This man snatched ¥80,000 (about $800) and ran away, after ate 10 beef bowls (about $40) in Yoshinoya.

When he started to eat, other customers were in the restaurant.
But when he finished to eat, no customers were there.
He might be eating for people leave from the restaurant.

Those were total about 5,900 Calories. 2,500 ~ 3,000 Cal. are daily volume for 30s man.
Hi did good job (not really good, but...).

How did he run after ate that much?

Any way, Japanese say "80% of stomach" or "80% full".
When "Satiety Center" felt full, more than 100% of foods are in your stomach.

Don't spend your money for unnecessary calories.
Don't damage your stomach for unnecessary fat.

If you need, Terra helps reducing your appetite.

Did you know Yoshinoya serve beef bowls with ceramic in Japan?

I visited a Japanese ¢98 store.

They used to sell most items for ¢98.
They sell most items $1.69 recently.
They say "most of cost increased with oil cost".
However, some items are still ¢98.

A soup for Soba noodle, cookies, ketchup, seaweed, and more...
And, look at the signboard in the middle of the display.

It is common sense in Japanese society in U.S.
Most foods are O.K. a little past in expire date.

Japanese people used to have foods with self-responsibility.
No one protect you.
Doctors give you expensive medicine after you are hurt.
Obama is doing mmm...

Contemporary Japanese learn how to sue others from American.
So bunch of explain on the label of package, which makers' protections.

We should remember responsibility.

You try Terra's Acupuncture or not. It is your responsibility (^-^)

Free Service

I visited office equipment store today.

I like this store because most stuffs are little bit cheaper than the most famous office equipment store.
Bad point was 'not many employee helped me find somethings'. So I took more than an hour for buying few things sometime.

However today, they asked me, "May I help you?" or such kind of words next by next.
I think they reviewed their service in this bad economy.
I like this store more than before now.

I remembered the menu board in McDonald's in Japan.
There was, "Smile 0".

Merry Christmas?

I was riding bike near by my office, Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills in last Saturday (Sep. 26)
And I found people were taking pictures of something.

Everybody was smiling, and looked so happy and fun.

I got closer, and looked

They are....

Yes! He is

The teachers in my kindergarten told me, "Santa Claus comes in the night of Christmas eve, if you are behaving good".

I believe People in Beverly Hills must be behaving extremely good, so He came so much early.

However, Mr. Santa Claus looked too hot even cool summer though.

Dancing with CO2

Japanese new prime minister promises to slash CO2 25% below 1990 levels by 2020.

CO2 emissions per person in Japan is less than half of U.S.
Population is 120,000,000 in Japan, 300,000,000 in U.S.

CO2 is 0.4 ~ 0.7% of "greenhouse gas," and more than 93% are vapor.
Artificial CO2 (Car exhaust, factory, air conditioner, etc.) are 3% of whole CO2.
Other 97% are rotting animal/plant bodies, activity of magma, cattle belching, etc.

3% of 0.4% is 0.012% (12/100,000), and 3% of 0.7% is 0.021% (21/100,000) of greenhouse gas.

What are this man talking? Dreaming?

Oh! His wife has visited the Venus by flying saucer, which she said.
Yes, ET may possible to do it!

I am sorry, people in Japan.

Pre-Emmy Party

I was invited Pre-Emmy Party.

Many celebrities were there.
One of my patient who I know is an actress too.
She supposed to come, but she didn't show up.
Eventually, I didn't know anyone. (Sorry if you who are reading this were there, but I am telling you honestly).

I better see TV, maybe.

But I don't have TV...

I had a house call in Malibu on Tuesday.

The patients live at peak of mountain.
I have visited there before, but it has been a while.

I did not lose my way, but I was checking my "Thomas Guide 1996" while driving.

Eventually, I got car sick... unbelievably.

Yes, I get motion sick easily by car, train, airplane, ship...
But first time ever, I got that by my own driving.

Everyone, check your map before driving!! Not during.

Mini-skirts being worn by older women, says Debenhams

I see that 70s wear short-skirts often in Beverly Hills.
Yeh, often.
Is there special?

We have some words in Japan for health, "Zu Kan Soku Netsu: head cold, feet heat".
Chinese says, "Tou Han Zu Re", which same characters as Japanese.
That is meaning, keep cool your head and keep worm your feet to be healthy.

If you receive strong sun light on your head and get into the air conditioned rooms with beach sandals, which is against to healthy rule.

I recommenced wearing boots or sneakers when you wear mini-skirts.

Don't Read Twice

Kidnapped woman hidden in CA backyard for 18 years

Why are Yahoo and other news announcing girl's name?
They don't care her future?
They think her life is over yet?
Or they want us tell her kind words when we see?

I wish everybody forget her name and she become one of the ordinary happy people.

DOC (Drink Or Caning)

Malaysia Delays Caning Beer Woman

Do you want to live there? I don't think so.
She had some beer with her husband...

They say, "Caning is second heaviest punishment in Malaysia": of coarse first is execution.
There is big gap in between first and second, but still mmm...

By the way, Acupuncture works for hangover.
And also alcoholic.
It maybe better than taking drug to stop alcohol.

I believe nobody has these kind of problem in my blog readers, but I tell you for just in case...

Are You Going to Beach?

Urban pollution fouls U.S. beaches.

This report says, "More frequent heavy rains associated with global warming will further harm water quality".
Does this mean this summer is safer than usual?

Alaska is ranked one of cleanest beaches.

Yes! Let's go to the Alaskan beach!!

A monk told in a TV show, "A baby is born with crying and surrounding people are happy. A person dies while surrounding people are crying, and the person is happy".

In the Buddhism, the life is a training stage. So he said, "babies cry and people die in happy".

I understand this idea.
Because human beings cannot find why we live, so their answer is 'another world (after death) is main stage and this world is training stage'.

Of course, I don't know the right answer of it either.

However most people want to live long (it is sure).

Please ask me, I may help you. And I proud of my ability of acupuncture .

World's tallest dog dies from cancer.

He was finally humanely euthanized.

I think that was difficult decision.
And I want to believe that decision was good.

However, I still doubt euthanize for animals.

I don't think any animals think "want to die," ... other than human being.

By the way, I am 6'2" in height. I worry who can handle my body in my old age.

Money talks?

"Japanese police issued an arrest warrant for missing actress Noriko Sakai for drug possession..."

She was known as purity (innocence) character.

She also played a publicity movie of the judge that ordinal people participate (like a juror; this system was just started in Japan).
Of course, the government (Supreme Court) made the movie.

We are disappointed.

I honestly, understand top artists or people in unusual situation want drug.
However, it is an illegal. That means terribly bad for your body. I believe you know it.

Cigarettes are legal. Huge pick up trucks are legal. Guns are legal. Dioxins are still legal. Birth control pills that induce breast cancers are legal, too. But those are not!

If you feel "want some drugs" by depression, anxiety, irritability or something else, please tell me. Please tell an acupuncturist close to you.

I believe I can help you.
I believe without drug is happier life than theirs.

Brain Tumor

A family member of my patient had brain tumor.

Her operation was done in yesterday.

That was really successful one.

As I wrote at last post, "found early, prognosis is better".

We glad progress of medicine.

In general, symptoms of brain tumor are: vertigo, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, headache, sight reduction, and so on.

Breast Cancer

My favorite J-pop star left us.
Her name is "Kaori Kawamura".

She was born in Russia.
Her father is a Japanese and Her mother was a Russian.

Her breast cancer was found in 2004, and her left breast was removed.
She continued to receive the treatment with anticancer agent.
However the cancer relapsed on her lymph node, bone and lung in October 2008.

Her mother died by breast cancer too in 1998.
And she was praying for 'her daughter not to be affected by cancer' until she loses consciousness.

She was 38 years old, and departed 7/28/2009.

I recommend to get an exam if you feel anxious.
Nowadays, many cases of cancer are completely recovered, if it is found in early stage.

And my personal opinion, "DO NOT USE BIRTH CONTROL PILLS".
It is one of the biggest cause to get breast cancer in this country.

Thank you Kaori, your musics made some parts of my personality and my life.

Not Only the Patient

I stepped on the scale in new shower room today.
I have not done this few weeks.

Oh, NO!!

I lost 6 lbs again. 165lbs. My best suppose to be 180lbs.

I remember that was 3 years ago. I lost my weight to around 160lbs.
The cause was "pneumothorax".

Everyone!, check your health, especially when you lost weight immediately.

I sure do it. And I really need to think about how to gain weight myself.
I know a lot of method to lose weight, but the other way...

Monday, July 27, 2009

Just Let You Know

I saw a patient today (oh, already yesterday).

She lost 10lbs with few acupuncture treatments in 7weeks.

"Good job!" for her. And for me. This is good pace. If lose weight quickly, rebound (regain) quickly often.

I believe you know, which Acupuncture works not only as pain killer.

Blue Sky

There were not many people around my office in Beverly Hills today.

Yeah, I know that people are on the beach.

Oh! This is the southern California!!

I have no time to go to the beach.
But I am with this blue sky.

Yeah, do you know?

It's too hot with my white coat (><)!

Don't forget to drink mineral water little extra for sweat.

I am moving.

Yes, it is about my residential place.

Insurance companies sends me some letters.
Patients re-schedule their appointments.
Too hot, riding bike under the sun (Do you know why?).
And moving boxes.
I am in these kind of situation every day.

All of above are excuses for I did not update this blog nearly half of a month.

Michael Jackson

The big pop star left us.

We re-realized how the drugs are danger.

Of course in some cases, some drugs work well.
New drugs, new medicines are often wonderful, but "new" means nearly equal to "not known well".

I wish he is hot also cool in the next world, too.

Father's Day

Asahi Beer conducted a survey of a 3,600 men and women who are 20 years old or older, which grading their fathers and fathers grade themselves.

The children gave 74.8/100 for their fathers as average. And the fathers graded themselves 62.0/100.
The children graded much higher than the fathers' self-grading.
I felt relief.

I am hearing as "people are losing morals and common senses," or "Samurais are no longer there" and so on.

But, Japan is still O.K.

When those numbers are reversed (self-grading become higher than others graded) .....

To strict for oneself, to kind for others.

Various researches result in various conclusions.
So I don't think this book is all wrong.

However, I don't really want to follow this (other than dark chocolate: Oh! my favorite).

If you have tried, please tell me your opinion.

Money Game

I went to a Mexican Market.

There is a Game Machine that I used to play often in Japan. I played really good.

We call this game, "UFO Catcher".

I found something not familiar with this kind of game.

I could not try this game in this situation.

Some stuff dolls with $20 bills are in the bottom of the machine.

LA Marathon

Two of my friends (they don't know each other) ran the marathon.
Both of them finished around 4 1/2 Hrs.

I am thinking to try a Marathon during past 20 years, but never have being become real yet.

I just drove the marathon course to House Call today (at twilight).

Anyway, applause for all of finished runners... and couldn't finished runners.

House Call

I did not have any house calls in last week, which was first happening in this year.
I relaxed and watched old stories of 'House MD' and some Japanese dramas.

That was too relaxed! Now I have many things should do (paper works and so on).
And I come home around 11PM every night in this week.

Too much is similar as not enough (Japanese proverb).

Pox Party

I have heard about 'Pox Parties,' but I thought those are done just long time ago.

It is sure danger for any diseases (as measles, mumps or poxes), and especially for not clearly known disease as Swine Flu.

If you have any questions, please contact me or ask your family doctor before you do wrong.

Nowadays, 250Yen (about$2.50) Bentos (lunch boxes) are popular in Japan.

I feel that many people overreacting to the news of bad economy.
Japanese may do that more than Californians.

However, they cannot finish their lunch only salad or sandwiches.

"Everything in Japan is expensive" is already myth.

Many kinds of small portions of foods, which is supporting Japanese's longest life of the world.

I wish these Bentos are in somewhere around Beverly Hills.

Door Sign

I got the 'door sign' last week, finally.
Now, the office looks like, "Yes, Terra is here!"

Everyone, please come see this!

Summer has come!

Over the last couple of weeks, many people have told me, “Terra, there is something wrong with my neck, I cannot turn it”. They said it occurs when they wake up in the morning, and ask that with the expression, “what’s wrong with me”. However, those words sound to me like, “again?!”.

My studies have shown many people tell me the same thing with in a few hours. It is getting warm these days, but still cold in the morning, especially around 5-6AM. Room temperature is still warm when people go to bed, causing the muscles to be relaxed. Early morning the room temperatures drop, causing the muscles must be contracted to keep body temperature. When people are asleep, it is difficult for the muscles to contract ‘just enough’ as voluntarily. Muscles will then be contracted too much around their neck, where is not covered by a blanket.

I recommend for people to wear warm pajamas to bed for cold early mornings. This little thing prevents you to pay a lot of money for doctors or painkiller (which harm your liver and/or kidney. That chemical is hundreds times worse than chemical of cigarette).

Of course, in some cases, the symptoms come from mental or physical stress. Thus, stiff necks are not coming from only the stress with TAX due dates.

I couldn't wait Google

I was waiting for "Google search" to find my blog to post my 2nd topic. And finally they found it. Because my friend at "Get Connected World" linked my blog. Thank you GCW.

However, Google cannot find me again today, Why?!

O.K., I still believe someone read my blog and is waiting for my 2nd topic.

So now I post "the 2nd topic".

It is, "the 2nd half of the promotion, which I posted last time" (I just forgot to post them).
"First Acupuncture Treatment is Free, Follow Up Treatments are 50% off". That was the post.

Terra uses needles, moxa and some oriental herbs. All of these just help spontaneous cure or vis medcatrix naturae (VMN), which people have by nature (the human body has miraculous power). I do not use any strong poison that MDs give you. So in most of cases, you better receive ongoing treatment.

Many people asked me, "how many treatments do I need?" Honestly, I cannot answer that question until I diagnose you. Please ask about getting a "Free diagnosis".

Free First Treatment until May 29th '09
50% Off Follo-Ups
until August 31st '09

Next topic will be medically related ... maybe.
See you soon.

Why font cannot be stay same as last post???

I am happy if you give me comments either agree or disagree.
Especially, I am very happy if you correct my English.

Oh, Yes.
I will tell you any promotion, on this blog too.
